Every year in April, Vancouver’s streets and gardens are filled with the most lovely pink blooms that flower from Cherry Blossoms, making the city feel even more magical.

This year, the celebrations take place from April 5 – 28th, but you can bet that it takes place around the same time annually. During the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, you will be treated to events and performances like dance, music, poetry, yoga, walks through the best of Vancouver’s Cherry Blossoms, and plenty of other activities that are fun for families. These beautiful blossoms also make for great photos and exemplify Vancouver during the spring season at its best.

On the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival’s website, you will find a useful page that tells you what areas are blooming at a specific time, and they even give you the address so that you can readily find it. These trees are not limited to certain neighborhoods, or just Vancouver, but you will find them scattered throughout the city and other parts of BC (and the world, for that matter).

These Cherry Blossoms are very special to Vancouver because in the 1930s, Japan gifted over 37,000 ornamental Cherry Blossoms to Vancouver. This non-profit organization was founded in 2005 and aims to promote and encourage the beauty of the Cherry Blossoms, and the meaning behind them every March and April. They are inspired by the old Sakura festivals of Japan and use those celebrations and traditions as inspiration for Vancouver’s own festival.

Vancouver relishes this time of year, and after seeing it for yourself, you likely will as well.
